Asterix in Portuguese: 5 new translations

Edition - The official asterix.com website - The Translation Exchange

The Romans are totally speechless at the new onslaught of Asterix translations into Portuguese. Check out the new publications in Doubleclix’s blog.
Traduttore, traditore” (“Translator, Traitor”), as the Romans used to say. So are we to be disappointed by the new Portuguese translations of Asterix albums? Not at all – the recent publications of 5 new Asterix album translations into Portuguese, completely faithful one and all to the original spirit of the series, are proof to the contrary! Here, in the virtual Village, our theory is that the exasperated Romans are just green with envy …
And why shouldn’t they be? Tired of being annihilated and thoroughly ridiculed by our indomitable Gauls in every album, they must wish that they could rewrite the fabulous adventures of our heroes! Fortunately for us though, my faithful Asterix readers, The Mansion of the Gods, Asterix and the Laurel Wreath, Asterix in Corsica, Asterix and Caesar's Gift and Obelix and Co. have all been translated afresh into Portuguese so as to embolden our fearless Gaulish warriors!

Asterix Quiz August session: And the winners are…

Games and contests - The official asterix.com website - The Translation Exchange

5 lucky Indomitable Gauls have won the book Asterix and the Great Divide in Picard language. Their names are now revealed on Doubleclix’s blog.
Sabrina PELAGATTI, Maxime JOUGLEUX, Guillaume PELTIER, Patrick CREPIN and Jean-Marc MANDEL are the lucky winners of our Gaulish Staracademix, the Asterix Quiz.
Unfortunately, you may have noticed that our last Asterix quizzes were only available in French. Anticlimax, Asterix’s first cousin once removed from Britain, who usually translates them in English, is very sorry for our English speaking readers. But he assures us that next month the Asterix Quiz will be available in English.
Great news, as people from all around the Known World are beginning to wonder what has happened to him. As a matter of fact, in the Virtual Village, rumour has it that Anticlimax is actually so obsessed with the international rugby competition that he can’t find the time to translate anything… As Obelix would say, “these Britons are crazy”!

Quoridor Kid Asterix game in Technicolor!

Collectors

Are you a bit slow the morning after a party? Then follow Metatarsus’ example and sample the magic potion of the Quoridor Kid Asterix game.
One Metatarsus, that’s ok, but four Metatarsus…it can only mean trouble! Metatarsus, the young Roman party animal from Asterix and the Laurel Wreath is the star of this all-new Quoridor Kid Asterix game, the latest addition to the Asterix board game series.
The aim of the game, as you may have guessed, is to be the first to lay your hands on Caesar’s laurels, the most coveted trophy in the Asterix universe. Each player has a token in the colours of the aforementioned Metatarsus. And, “in the colours of” is exactly right, as each monochromatic token borrows one of the shades that Metatarsus acquires during the Asterix and the Laurel Wreath album after having tasted a rather heady mixture concocted by our heroes in a culinary experiment …

Obelix king of the Known World!

The official asterix.com website

He did it! Obelix has won the final of the Tournament of the Indomitable, defeating his friend Asterix in an unforgettable game.
We can’t find the words to express our feelings... Ironically, those of Julius Caesar could fit in quite well: Veni, vidi… Indeed we’ve come, and we’ve seen… Obelix conquering the Tournament of the Indomitable 2007 title!
No writer could have conceived such a thrilling conclusion for this opposition between Asterix and Obelix. Only your votes could make the decision! And so they did, after a breathtaking tie-break that our historian druids already consider as great as the one which occurred in 1980 A.D. in Londinium, with a Viking called Borg confronting a young Mac Enroe from America.
But Obelix has no intention to rest on his laurels. He has a new appointment next year with all the best athletes of the Known World on the occasion of the Asterix at the Olympic Games movie release!

A Codfix statuette by Leblon Delienne

Collectors

It looks like the bad guys are in the limelight: just a few months after a superb rendition of Prolix, the soothsayer, the infamous Codfix gets his own Leblon Delienne statuette.
He’s rubbing his hands... It’s a dream come true for someone seeking glory as avidly as Codfix: Leblon Delienne has erected a statue to the unspeakable Majestix’s henchman appearing in the book Asterix and the Great Divide.
The statuette, due to be released in November, will be available in a limited edition of 999 copies. Rumour has it that Codfix, now being at the height of his fame, is thinking about offering one to Melodrama, hoping that she’ll finally realise that “once you’re used to him, he’s the life and sole of the party”!

A new Asterix game box with a jigsaw puzzle game

Collectors

Here comes a new Asterix game box, based upon the album Asterix and the Golden Sickle, and containing a new Asterix jigsaw puzzle game.
Traditionally in the adventures of Asterix the Gaul, the Romans are the ones being in a puzzle about what to do with those invincible “Crazy Gauls”… This time, with the release of a challenging 1000 piece cut Asterix jigsaw puzzle game, our favourite heroes are the ones needing your help to reconstruct a beautiful drawing.
We’re talking about the rare Asterix and the Golden Sickle cover drawing specially made by Albert Uderzo in 2006 for the release of this adventure in the Asterix Grand Collection. A marvellous view of Lutetia, isn’t it?
