The new video game Asterix and Cleopatra now on mobile phones!

Here we have great news coming from the Asterix video games world!
As you may have noticed, the World Wide Web is buzzing with excitement around the forthcoming release of Asterix at the Olympic Games, the new Asterix video game scheduled for this coming winter (see our 25 June post). As a matter of fact, here in the virtual Village, we’re snowed under the dozens of Google Alerts delivered every day in our mailboxes with Asterix at the Olympic Games great pieces of news. Yet the autumn still seems far, far away for Asterix fans longing for a new Asterix video game to play with… But the truth is Asterix and his friends won’t let you spend the summer without an exciting new game!
Yes indeed, open your Gaulish eyes and ears, as a new Asterix video game to be played with on mobile phones has just been released! After the huge success of both Asterix: Rescue Obelix and Asterix and the Vikings, a new video game based upon the comic strip book Asterix and Cleopatra offers you a chance to help Edifis build a palace worthy of the Queen of queens. 12 mini-games, 20 missions to complete are on the schedule to help the Egyptian architect in his impossible task.

The Asterix’s Tournament of the Indomitable: beginning of the quarter finals

Great Gaulish warriors from the old days look like they’re ready for another Gergovia! Three veterans demonstrated their great form during breathtaking games, and qualified for the quarter finals of the 2007 edition of the Asterix’s Tournament of the Indomitable.
Astronomix, famous for being the father of Asterix, Geriatrix, and Getafix, whose wisdom defeated the reckless youth of Justforkix, have all made it through to the next round. A quick look at the list of winners of the fourth round proves that experience is the master trump for a success in the Asterix’s Tournament of the Indomitable: Asterix, Obelix, Dogmatix, Vitalstatistix and Panacea are all accustomed to the last rounds of this great competition. And veterans still have high hopes for what’s to come: the game between Geriatrix and Astronomix guarantees us the presence of an old Asterix fellow in the semi-finals!
As for Anticlimax, known specialist of the green grass circuses of the Tournament, who was hoping to reach the finals, he was defeated by an impressive Obelix. Let’s just hope that the traditional “shake hands” sequence at the end of the game won’t let Asterix’s cousin too shaken by the strength of Obelix! Get voting!

A new Asterix Backgammon game for collectors!

Well, it’s raining again here in Gaul… Is a Roman devilry behind this extremely bizarre summer? Well, no rain could ever stop Indomitable Gauls from enjoying life in the Asterix Village: the wonderful Asterix games are here to be played with!
Indeed, the superb Asterix games collection produced by Editions Atlas is a must have when summer goes rainy.
And Anticlimax, our specialist when it comes to rain, has great news for all Asterix collectors: a new Asterix Backgammon game takes place in this super collection.
Based upon the comic strip book Asterix in Britain, it offers great surprises, the pieces in the shape of barrels being one of the greatest, as they remind us of great comical scenes in the book!

Asterix is back in Turkish and Polish

There’s certainly no let up in the production of Asterix albums at the moment.
Three new titles have been added to our Translation Exchange and Bravura’s bookshop: the brand new translation of Asterix and the Actress into Turkish, as well as two reissues of Asterix and the Secret Weapon in Polish.
Why is one title counted twice, I hear you ask? Quite simply because Asterix albums are published in Poland in both hardback and paperback form – which of course makes life doubly difficult for our IT druids who are responsible for updating the Translation Exchange by listing and classifying all the different Asterix album publications!

The Asterix’s Tournament of the Indomitable: beginning of the 4th round

It was raining again and again on the Londinium courts of Wimbledon, but great games never stopped being played on the green grass of the Asterix’s Tournament of the Indomitable.
A quick look at the winners of the 3rd round of the 2007 Edition of the Asterix’s Tournament of the Indomitable leaves no doubt about the superiority of the inhabitants of the Asterix Village when it goes to show their sporting talents: Asterix, Cacofonix, Vitalstatistix, Fulliautomatix, Dogmatix, Geriatrix, Getafix and Obelix all made it through to the next round!
Now it’s anyone’s guess as to who will qualify for the semi-finals in the third part of the draw: Astronomix, Boneywasawarriorwayayix, Metallurgix or Geriatrix? Anyway, a surprising semi-finalist for this 2007 Edition! Get voting!
